A Spooky Sports Bra (warning, very scary photos of ghosts)

Let me first introduce you to the reason behind this project.  With summer fast approaching, and my job taking considerably more physical labor than I've ever done, I've found myself sweating buckets while at work. While I normally preach my hatred of Polyester and her accursed sisters, most of my work clothes have inadvertently ended up being cheap, mass manufacturered pieces of (quite literally) hot garbage. Most of this is because of the fact I wear through it so quickly, I don't have the time it takes me to design, mock up, buy and sew a full garment. But this also means that the ready to wear clothing I buy (despite being a decently expensive investment), is almost all poly or mostly poly. I'm working to fix that. The first full work garment I tried to make was a pair of stays. Yes I know...  I wanted to reduce the way the waistband of my pants would dig into my stomach when I crouched or bent over. I also felt like it would help flatten out the appearance of my c...

I took my cat's balls...

Hello again!  It's now four days since I took my cat to get neutered, and it was definitely an adventure! After waking up at 6-something in the morning, I packed up my cat and drove across town to pick up my sister (Real MVP of the whole day). Together, we took Hades and dropped him off at the mobile vet downtown at 8am sharp. I had my weighted blanket with me while I was driving, which definitely helped. Having someone else go with me was honestly probably the only reason I was able to do it at all, though. Then my sister and I spent the entire morning at my apartment, making breakfast and sewing. I worked on my bra replica project, and she worked on cutting out a pants pattern out of a pretty dusty pink cotton. I had honestly a very good time despite being so overly tired, and before we knew it it was time to go pick my cat back up. We stopped at Dutch on the way, just barely missing getting some free enamel pins by a couple hours, as we found out later. Oh well. We picked ...

Back at it again...

Hello! I'm surprising myself by actually writing another post! I had a very exciting weekend, I'll tell you what. First of all, L came and jumped my car for me on my Saturday, which I was very grateful for. We both went to Dutch beforehand and they bought me a drink so we could both get the free patches that they were giving out that day. Then I took my car through the carwash with L, and got to enjoy all the pretty colors in the foam they use. It definitely didn't clean my car all the way but it looks a lot shiner then it did and I think that's pretty good. Then, after dropping L back off at home, I took my car on some more drive time down to the local Joannes. That was the first time I've been since they announced they're closing, and it was pretty wiped. I needed some little cord stops for the doughnut I was planning on making for Hades (my cat), for when he gets his neuter done in the next week or so. Luckily they still had some left, and I was able to snag...

My First Post!

Hello all! I don't know how long Blogger will still be around, but my parents ran a blog on here when I was a kid (almost 20 years ago!!). It's always been something at the back of my mind, because I do the thing where sometimes I over explain stuff to myself for fun and then go "I bet this would make a good blog post". There are a few projects I've done too that I've documented and have notes on with the intention of making a post about it and just never have, and I'm hoping that keeping a record of my progress on things in my life will help push me to be better and more consistent. Plus, I'm sure someday in the future I can go back and reread my work like a strange public journal... I suppose it would be pertinent to outline some of the goals or posts I want to make in the future. 1. The adventure I have scheduled next week in getting my cat neutered  2. The bear drawstring bag project I did - I have so many pictures on my phone and several pages of ...
